The Storytelling Machine [Asia Culture Centre, South Korea]

Over 2016 Justin was artist-in-residence at the Asia Culture Center (Korea) with Betty Sargeant. They created an interactive media-artwork called The Storytelling Machine. Justin programmed this work in collaboration with Peter Walker using TouchDesigner and Creature Animation. Music by Andrew Ogburn.

The Storytelling Machine instantly transforms the public’s drawings into animated 3D characters that roam the artwork’s seven worlds. Ultimately this artwork presents a collective story. An imprint of what it’s like to live in a digitally connected culture where our stories, once released, have a life of their own which we no longer control.

You can follow this project as if evolves further and across other countries on the The Storytelling Machine Facebook Page.

Betty Sargeant ~Award-winning artist and designer led the team in making this media artwork.

This project has been created in collaboration with the Asia Culture Centre, and with financial support from Creative Victoria, the Copyright Agency Limited Cultural Fund, and The City of Port Phillip Cultural Development Fund.
